So I am looking to play some rpg type skirmish games based on The Lost World TV show.

The rules need to allow for heroic derring do, and have some sort of levelling up system.
But also pretty simple, nothing as complicated as a typical rpg, I am thinking maybe only a few a stats and it need not have skills as such, but maybe modifiers to task rolls?

There will be magic, science, guns and dinosaurs!

I could even rob mechanics from board games or convert some existing rules. But it is ofc easier to buy off the shelf.

What do you suggest and do you have any links to game reports?

I like .45 Adventures. They are character driven, designed for small groups with heroes, sidekicks and plenty of disposable mooks. They might be too detailed for you in terms of character design, but you can check out the free demo rules at the link, and see if they might suit. They do cover super science and the occult so they have you covered there, and there is a campaign system allowing for advancement.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Maybe too complex Cthulhu Pulp, or Howard Whitehouse’s Eat Hitler’s Brain??

I haven’t used them, but Pulp Alley gets a good press. .45 Adventure is good, but perhaps a little more detailed than you’re looking for.

If you do not mind the Two Hour Wargames reaction system, then Adventures in the Lost Lands is exactly what you want.  While it does not use the most up to date THW reaction mechanism you can use what is in the rules, or just download the latest chain reaction rules (for free) and plug them into the rules.  Campaigns, scenarios and exactly created for Lost World RPG skirmish type adventures.

    Get it here:

This page also includes a link to the latest Chain Reaction rules.

    Adventures in the Lost Lands

I’ve played in some crazy fun games of Lost Lands.  Best ones have had multiple players though.
