Many thanks for the suggestions.  I did have a previous look at 7Tv, but there does seem to be a lot to get my head around , although no doubt it is an excellent set of rules (I may well use some of the their figures).

Another set of rules I have come across is Invasion X https://killerbgames.co.uk/shop/ols/products/invasion-x-rule-book

I have their Geezers rulebook and am familiar with the Killer B style: has anyone come across them?

    Tom,

Another thought, do you think the rules could be adapted to game the like of the Second Gulf War in 20mm?  Just wondering if they could deal with asymmetric combat in built-up areas such as Fallujah.

PS Just noticed Cornered Wolf: would they work better?

Hi Tom et al, I have 28mm figures as well as 6mm for this theatre.  I have about 60 each of Soviet, DRA and Mujahideen figures with heavy weapon supports along with 3 BMPs, 1 BTR60, a T55 and an BRDM.

Any suggestions or thoughts on making Hind and Seek work in that scale?  We do have a large 14×7 play area.

Many thanks for the all the suggestions.

My feeling is that I might need two sets of rules: a Pulp Alley/7Tv type for small actions the like of the TV series with only the main characters and a “serious” set such as Chain of Command/Combat Patrol for games with around 20 or 30 figures each side.

Ivan, how many figures per side do the Nordic Weasel stable of games handle?

Many thanks.  Sounds very good for infantry supported by a couple of IFVs.

    Hi Tom,

Compliments of the Season to you.

I am updating my print copy of the rules with the errata and suggested errata.  From what I can see, the amendments are on pages 1, 2, 29 and 47: are there any others?  The only other change is the clarification that drawn cards are discarded: do you want to suggest “official” wording in some particular place?

    Best regards,

    Alan

    Hi Stephen,

You mentioned buildings: in 6mm, I have used Hovels and Timecast Arab/North African/Libyan buildings, all of which paint up very nicely.

For figures, there are choices from Heroics and Ros, GHQ and Magister Militum.

Does Afghan Breakdown have English subtitles?

I forgot to mention another “must see” movie: The Beast of War.

It is about a psychotic tank commander whose tank gets separated for the rest of the force after an attack on a village (NB Tom, it does have villagers in it 😜). It is harried by the Mujahideen through valleys trying to reach a main road and safety. I won’t spoil the ending but it is great inspirarion for scenery, although it is more 1:1 level for the purpose of a game.

Just got the rules on Wargames  Vault.  Looking forward to giving them a good read over.

    Tom,

Sounds perfect. Will you be making the rules available as a pdf or will you have a UK supplier?

Another good film is Charlie Wilson’s War.

Looking forward to the rules.  How far down will the rules break down squad organisation?  In 6mm (or thereabouts) scale gaming with individual figures is hardly practical.  I will be using Mainforce Miniatures which have 3 figures per base.

    Tom,

Many thanks.  I will keep an eye on this thread to hear when the rules become available.

    Tom,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  They are indeed great books which I too have to get round to reading some day.  The fact you are bringing out these rules will give me some incentive!

will the DRA forces be featuring in the rules?  I was thinking of getting some of these as well as the Ruskies.

with regard to the scenarios, they do seem to cover a lot of ground: could you give an indication of the number of bases needed for the largest one?

    All the best,

    Thanks for the replies.

What would be the suggestions for dealing with an unarmed but hostile mob which is blocking your path to safety and how would you incorporate them in a set of rules?  I can see such a situation in assymetric games such as Blackhawk Down.

    Shawn,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Will the new rules contain such a rule?

    Alan

PS Will I be able to use my old AA scenarios such as Art of War with the new rules?

    Very nicely done.

May I ask, what is your technique for replacing the gun barrels with brass rods?  What diameter of rod do you suggest and how best to drill into the turret without damaging it?
