There is a lot of truth in that article.
For me 10mm is a touch better with the exception that there is much less choice out there than 15mm.
Had I the time and space everything I do would be 15mm.
Mass battles to skirmishes.

Nice article. Can’t disagree with those points. I do tend to like the smaller sized figures <20mm, and painting them as mentioned is a doddle. Like Mike if I was to do it all again it would be 15mm all the way.

I agree with you Mike. If 10/12mm had the range of choices it would be my go to for pretty much everything, but sadly the fact it is not is why I went for 15mm for my current SF project.

For me it is far more about horses for courses than “this is the best scale.”
Current projects are
Strength & Honour Late Republican Romans and Enemies in 2mm to get the feel of the massed battles of the period.
1550-ish Segoku Jidai Samurai in 3mm because a dozen or so 15mm Samurai, or worse half a dozen 28mm, doesn’t look like a sonae.
WW2 NWE in 3mm because BKC units represent platoons and squadrons and it’s nice to have proper representation and not “that tank model is actually a zug of 4 Tiger Is.”
Mesopotamian Early Bronze Age in 6mm – because most massed battles in the period don’t seem to have been quite so “massed” as in later periods so I feel I can go up a scale from 2 to 3mm.
10mm WW2 Eastern Front because there were no 3mm when I started it! Big enough to see details and small enough to fit a decent number on the table.
20mm Science Fiction – two thirds of the size and a quarter or less of the cost. Decent levels of detail on a figure and lets me use large 15mm and small 28mm stuff, especially for bots and aliens …. because how big are they in real life? If I were starting from scratch again today, gods forbid, I’d use 15mm because there’s a vast range of figures available that weren’t around when I started.
28mm Chibi Ninja because you can’t get chibi in any other scale as far as I can see. I wanted something a little more fun and less serious than the other stuff I play. Slightly silly figures with very, very simple rules.

I like all different scales for a lot of reasons. I gravitate strongly towards 3mm and 6mm scale but I do like 15mm scale and am currently making a number of fun projects in it. I don’t fixate as much as I used to – there’s a place for everything in my table these days.
